The lock and a distinctive double bridge, allowing boats to transfer between the canal and the tidal river Neath. The premises were requisitioned by the Ministry of Supply in 1942 and the buildings were offered for sale in 1948.BP Llandarcy Oil Refinery Pumphouse. The Llandarcy refinery was located and designed to receive the bulk of its requirements from the Tennant canal — up to one time up to five million gallons, and at present, about three-and-a-half million gallons a day.Substancial damage to the wonderful Aberdulais Aqueduct. This impressive structure spans 340 feet and includes ten arches, as well as a single-span cast-iron trough over the Aberdulais Cut navigation.The bridge, constructed in 1823, is over two hundred years old and was built to provide access to the Crown Copper Works, which was established in 1797. This historic structure stands as a testament to early industrial infrastructure and the region’s rich heritage in copper production. Unfortunately, the bridge currently used to access Derwin Plant is in a state of severe disrepair and is literally falling apart.
